A new GDM theme

The default GDM theme in Debian doesn’t look right to my taste :) so decided to create one for myself. This is my first time creating a GDM theme, so it is mostly copied from other themes. Here’s how it looks like:


And that’s for the year of Dragon. You can grab the package here.

How to install:

  1. Uncompress the package
  2. Copy the whole folder to /usr/share/gdm/themes (you need root permission to do so)
  3. Run sudo gdmsetup to set it as the default theme.
  4. Stop GDM with sudo service gdm stop and start it again with sudo service gdm start. Or simply reboot your computer.
